With Euro 2016 concluding all eyes will be back on the domestic leagues, and whilst the Premier League looks appealing there is also a lot of activity across Europe that makes for interesting viewing. Whether it is watching how Bayern Munich cope post Pep Guardiola or if Zinedine Zidane can wrestle the La Liga title back to Madrid, there will be a lot of interest in the major European leagues.
Starting with La Liga, which in terms of quality is the best in the world based on European performances and the title race will be intriguing. Barcelona will start as favourites and have made some shrewd additions this summer, notably Denis Suarez who they re-signed for a small fee. However, with Lionel Messi having only just finished his season after playing in the Copa America and Neymar set to depart for the Olympics shortly, the start of the season may be a bit disjointed for the Catalan giants. With that in mind, Real Madrid will hope to pounce. Alvaro Morata has re-joined the club, but could yet be sold on and with Florentino Perez at the helm it would be unwise to rule out another marquee signing arriving at the Bernabeu. Of course, nowadays you can never disregard Atletico Madrid, where Diego Simone has worked wonders. Their second Champions League final defeat to rivals Real would’ve hurt in May but with the experience and quality in that side you would expect them to bounce back. In Antoine Griezmann they have the star of Euro 2016 and he has recently signed a new long-term contract to stay at the Calderon. In terms of the title race, this is the hardest to call around the rest of Europe and you can find Bet365 free bets at bookies.com who have everything covered when it comes to looking for the best odds.
Elsewhere, the Bundesliga may not be as competitive. Despite the loss of Pep Guardiola, serial winner Carlo Ancelotti has taken the reigns and whilst the style might not be as expansive, the results surely won’t suffer. Once again Bayern Munich have strengthened themselves and weakened the opposition by completing the signing of German international Mats Hummels, who was Borussia Dortmund’s captain. As well as that Ilkay Gundogan and Bundesliga player of the year Henrikh Mkhitaryan have also departed, joining the blue and red side of Manchester. Losing such key players makes it near impossible for Thomas Tuchel’s men to challenge for the title although they have made some fantastic additions to the squad, they have mainly been young players who will excel in the future, such as Emre Mor and Ousmane Dembele.
Overall, the new season promises to be exciting for fans of European football. As well as Germany and Spain, we can watch Juventus try and continue their dominance in Italy and PSG in France, both of who boast some top class players. However, La Liga is the standout league in the world and that three-way tussle for the title should make for an enthralling season.
With such an exciting season ahead, why not take a punt on who you think will come out on top? Place a bet here.
