Former England full-back Ashley Cole has signed with MLS club LA Galaxy after having his contract at AS Roma terminated.
The 35-year-old joined Roma in July 2014 but struggled for first-team opportunities and only made 16 appearances during a frustrating 18 month spell.
Cole made 156 appearances for Arsenal and played 229 times for Chelsea.
During these spells he achieved a huge amount of success including winning three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups finals, the Europa League and the Champions League.
Cole was also named in the PFA Team of the Year four times and the UEFA Team of the Year twice.
LA Galaxy Head Coach Bruce Arena told the club’s official website: “Ashley is one of the world’s most successful defenders and has played at the highest level of competition throughout his career.
“He can provide our defence with valuable experience. We look forward to his contribution to our club this season.”
The MLS has grown in prominence in recent years and Cole will join Steven Gerrard, Robbie Keane and Giovani dos Santos in Los Angeles.
