Former Tottenham midfielder Rafael Van Der Vaart has joined Danish outfit FC Midtjylland.
The rise of FC Midtjylland has been meteoric, culminating in their success in the Danish Superliga which saw them win the title for the first time in 2014/15.
The minnows from Denmark famously beat Manchester United 2-1 in the Europa League last season despite only being founded the year that their opponents won the unprecedented treble in 1999.
The previous season was a bit more of a struggle though, especially on the domestic front, as they surrendered their title and finished third behind champions Copenhagen and runners up SønderjyskE.
However, the wolves will be hoping that the stellar signing of Van Der Vaart leads to another Danish title this season.
The Dutchman shot to prominence during his teenage years when he featured for Ajax. He was prolific for ‘de Godenzonen,’ scoring 52 goals in 117 games.
He then impressed at Hamburg and Real Madrid before moving to Tottenham where he scored 24 goals in 63 league appearances.
After his successful stint at Spurs, the 33-year-old returned to Hamburg for a three season spell. He featured intermittently for Real Betis during the 15/16 campaign before signing for the Danish side this summer.
The well travelled Dutchman has been capped 109 times for the national team, scoring 13 goals. For club teams, the attacking midfielder has scored 132 goals in 397 league appearances which is an astonishing rate of goalscoring for a player tasked with creating.
