Watford have said they will discuss the future of manager Quique Sanchez Flores at the end of the season.
A statement released to Press Association Sport read: “As the club has consistently made clear no decision has been made on the future of Quique Sanchez Flores, and certainly no decision will be taken until the club has held in-depth discussions with Quique.”
The statement released made it clear that Flores will fulfill his contracted time at the club and continued by reasserting, “Those discussions will only take place once the season has finished. Quique has a two-year contract and the club would stress it is very happy with the job Quique and his staff have done this season.”
The Hornets started the season emphatically under Flores’ reign, gaining enough points by the new year to be comfortably mid-table. Recent form has seen the Hornets collect just three league wins since Christmas causing a disappointing drop to 12th place in the Premier League.
With Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Crystal Palace, things aren’t as bright as they once were for the Hertfordshire side.
A move may well be on the cards for the 51-year-old as Watford owner Giampaolo Pozzo is no stranger to chopping and changing managerial personnel. Last year’s Championship season saw four different men in charge throughout the campaign.
The appointment of Slavisa Jovanovic proved to be all the difference as the Serbian finally secured automatic promotion for the club just a point off champions Bournemouth – only for his contract to not get renewed.
The Hornets welcome a relegated Aston Villa side to Vicarage Road on Saturday, where Flores will be hoping to reverse his team’s dramatic dip in form.
