Former Italian giants Parma are set to return to the professional ranks after winning promotion to Serie C.
The club was wound up last summer after accumulating debts of over 200 million Euros.
A new club under the same name was created before the start of the season and is headed by club legend Nevio Scala.
Parma made light work of their season in Serie D (the highest division in Italian amateur football) finishing top of the league with a record 85 points.
After promotion was confirmed Scala said, “We are enjoying the rewards of an extraordinary ride
“Let’s enjoy the victory, as it’s the first of a process that we hope will see us as contenders again next year.”
Parma are managed by Luigi Apolloni, who is held in extremely high regard by the club’s fans having made over 300 appearances as a player.
