IN the big bucks era of the Premier League it’s easy to forget how football once was.
Once upon a time most games kicked off at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, the air was filled with a mix of Oxo, pies and smoke and fans dodged down streets and alleyways to get to a ground crammed into the middle of a (often dodgy) housing estate.
Now in the age of money-madness, many clubs have brought in the bulldozers, pocketed the cheque and packed their bags for a soulless bowl on the edge of town.
