MENTION Kettering Town to someone and they may well recall Paul Gascoigne’s ill-fated stint as manager.
But the Poppies do have another claim to fame – they were the first club in the UK to have a sponsor on the front of their shirts.
While clubs rake in millions from lucrative shirt sponsorship these days, it was a lot different 40 years ago when Kettering were trail-blazers.
