With all the sport on this summer – including the Euros and Olympics – it’s almost hard to believe the new football season has come around again already.
But here we go at a time of the year when everyone has hopes and dreams for what could be in store over the next ten months or so.
There’s certainly plenty of excitement at Portman Road as Ipswich Town prepare for their Premier League return after 22 long years away.
Manager Kieran McKenna has worked wonders since taking charge in late 2021 but now faces his biggest challenge of all – to keep the Tractor Boys in the top flight.
Leicester and Southampton also return – but only after a year out – and it’s going to be fascinating to see how all three perform.
We’ve got articles on the trio in this edition as well as a range of other material.
Among others, Robert J Wilson reflects on Gareth Southgate’s England managerial reign after the Three Lions went so close to glory in Germany, while poet Chris Towers takes another dip into Non-League waters at Marine. Thanks once again go to all our contributors.
If you fancy writing for the magazine please get in touch. You can send submissions and ideas to [email protected]
We read everything that comes in and use the best stuff each issue. Please do remember that as the magazine is printed only every six weeks or so, we can’t use time-sensitive pieces.
That aside, the main rule is there are no rules: as long as your piece is about football (pretty crucial, that) and on the right side of legal, we’ll consider it for publication.
We just want stuff that is interesting, funny, poignant, insightful, or maybe even all four.
