GARETH Southgate and his players really did England proud at the Euros, didn’t they?
The Three Lions’ run to the final lifted the nation after more than a year dealing with the impact of the Covid pandemic.
However, it was, sadly, all too predictable that the players who missed in the penalty shoot-out against Italy – Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka – would suffer racist abuse online in the aftermath of the final.
It was heartening, therefore, to see that hundreds of messages of support were left on a defaced mural of Rashford in Manchester.
The actions of a few idiots shouldn’t spoil the efforts of many.
As well as a glance back at the Euros in this edition, we also look ahead to the new season…
If you fancy writing for the magazine please get in touch. You can send submissions and ideas to [email protected]
We read everything that comes in and use the best stuff each issue. Please do remember that as the magazine is printed only every six weeks or so, we can’t use timesensitive pieces.
That aside, the main rule is there are no rules: as long as your piece is about football (pretty crucial, that) and on the right side of legal, we’ll consider it for publication.
We just want stuff that is interesting, funny, poignant, insightful, or maybe even all four.
Thanks for your support, John Lyons, editor
