TOM BLACKETT LOOKS BACK AT THE LIFE OF THE LATE JIM SMITH

IT WAS a sign of how popular Jim Smith was that the tributes came thick and fast after his death at the age of 79 in December.
The man affectionately known throughout the game as ‘the Bald Eagle’ will be fondly remembered at a host of clubs following more than half a century of service to the game as a player and manager.
His playing days took in spells at Sheffield United, Aldershot, Halifax, Lincoln, Boston and Colchester, the latter two as player-manager.
