AS an ardent football spectator and a veteran of more than 1,100 matches, one thing I particularly hate is postponed or abandoned matches.
I have pitched up at a few places to find the dreaded ‘Match Off’ notice displayed and have also suffered the disappointment of games terminated in mid-flow due to every malaise imaginable. These have included floodlight failure, fog and too many players sent off to continue.
