NEW Brighton is a holiday resort and dormitory town which sits at the top of the Wirral Peninsula. Built to rival the grandeur of Brighton on the Sussex coast, it sits directly across the Mersey from Goodison Park and the much more skyline-dominating Anfield. It once boasted the tallest latticed steel viewing tower in the UK which was 47 feet higher than the nearby Blackpool Tower.
