THERE’S no doubt who the surprise star of the 1990 World Cup was – Salvatore ‘Toto’ Schillaci. He started the competition as a substitute but came off the bench to score in the first game and didn’t look back.
Schillaci eventually finished Top Goalscorer and Player of the Tournament ahead of the likes of Lothar Matthäus and Diego Maradona.
